100 Spelling Rules Reviews
For some 'rules' there were more exceptions to the rule than there were examples that fitted the rule. I got this for my Literacy Support class in the hopes that it would simplify things for them and make spelling more accessible. It was a complete waste of time - not something I could use for them at all. WAY too detailed, too lengthy and too complicated.
When you are allowed to peek in the book, the examples given are the best this book has. I thought all 100 rules would be similar in style. When I think of "rules", I think of quick easy reference points. The rules in this book are very lengthy. For example, a rule is given, and then all of the "unless" to the rules are listed - then a list of all the words that don't follow the rule or the "exceptions" to the rule. If this book was only $20, I don't think I would have been as disappointed. I can't imagine the time the author put into this book, but it definitely falls short - especially for the high price.
Great explanation of spelling rules. Very helpful.
Don't waste your money!!!!
